Today we start the newsletter of the Corpus of Catalan Sign Language (LSC) project. As some of you may know, in 2012 the Institut d’Estudis Catalans started a pilot project for the LSC Corpus. This project aims to collect data from native LSC signers from all over Catalonia, in order to study the regional, register and generational variation in LSC. So far we have made recordings in five locations, which are Terrassa, Lleida, Blanes, Palafrugell and Barcelona. Six native Deaf people have been chosen from each place and have been divided into male-female pairs for each of the following age groups: from 18 to 30 years old, from 31 to 50 years old and over 51 years old. When this stage of the project finishes, 42 signers will have been recorded and 63 hours of recording will have been obtained. All this material will be available online, organized by activities and with the corresponding annotations. We trust that it will be a very useful tool for the elaboration of materials in LSC, linguistic research and the creation of a lexicographical database of the LSC.
