Federació de Persones Sordes de Catalunya (FESOCA)

Hello everybody. I am Albert Casellas, the current president of the Federation of the Deaf in Catalonia (FESOCA). FESOCA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1979. Currently, it represents twenty-eight affiliated associations of Deaf people from all over Catalonia.
FESOCA represents and defends the rights of all this group and of the Deaf community in general. Its objective is to achieve the full integration and social participation of Deaf people. For this reason, the entity works to achieve equal opportunities and to promote the visibility and capacities of Deaf people in society; as well as the needs and necessary adaptations.
The entity’s main areas of work revolve around Catalan Sign Language (LSC), the identity, culture and history of the Catalan Deaf community.
