Agrupació de Sords de Vic i Comarca

Hello! I am David, the president of the Association of Deaf people in Vic since 2008. I have been in this position for 14 years. The association was founded in 1972 and has been in operation for fifty years thanks to the participation of members, current ones and those who are no longer with us. The main objective of the association is to work to offer accessible activities, conferences, walks, sports days, among many others. I have lived this associative life since I was little, since I come from a Deaf family. I have always been able to enjoy the association and it has been a very enriching experience.
Since I am president, I have worked to achieve a change in the functioning of the association. We offer our members comprehensive interpreting services, both public and private, in which the service fully covers everything without the need for a long wait. We work differently from other entities, that is, we are closer to our partners and faster.
I would like to dedicate a few words to VicMovies for organizing the festival of short films in Catalan Sign Language, both at a regional and state level. It is the first festival that is organized in Catalonia in this area and we celebrate the sixth edition. It is a pride that this festival is organized annually. We do not attribute the merit of this festival to the presidency of the association, but to all the members, who are the protagonists and who have fought for this recognition.
Our operation is not based on projects and subsidies received, nor with the help of other entities such as FESOCA. We request our projects, working together with the performers and partners to achieve this recognition that is a source of pride for our association.
I encourage you to access the website of L’Espiell, Facebook and Guspires. We hope there will be more initiatives like this and we can work together little by little. Thank you!
